The Breath is a Mirror.
by Deva Shantay
Why do I breathe shallow?
My breath is a mirror. A place where I can rest my attention and begin to understand the patterns that have shaped my life.
I can accept my shallow breath based in past trauma, or I can reprogram a new way of breathing and being. Because my breath was learned, means it can also be unlearned. But reprogramming takes time, consistency, and patience. It’s time for me to support myself in a new way, by befriending my breath, witnessing it, learning what it has to teach me.
This is an act of self-love: allowing the breath to move into me fully and deeply. Taking in complete nourishment. Feeding myself with the purest form of energy—prana. Bringing my full attention to breathing slow and deep.
This may be the simplest and most powerful way to practice self-love.
